NOTES:
1. Heaters must be installed facing south for
best winter heat gain.
Due to design, they DO NOT need to be
placed at angle off roof or wall for best heat gain.
2. If you live in an
area that has an average winter high above 30 deg. F. you do not need to cut two
holes in roof per panel.
Only one for warm air return. 6"
diameter for 3'x6' panels.
3. Use galvanized 6" ducting outside
of home. Use insulated 6" flex- duct inside home.
Keep warm
air return line as short and straight as possible for best performance.
4.
Duct fan goes in warm air return line and must be connected to power supply
(115V AC or Solar panel) see diagram below.
5. Duct fan will turn on/off
automatically when panels are producing heat above 90 deg. F.
6. If
installing multiple panels, use metal straps (included) to connect panels
together. This allows for fewer attachment
points to roof or
wall.
HOW TO CUT HOLE IN WALL OR ROOF
1. Locate south facing position on wall or roof where solar heater will be mounted.
2. Be sure that holes to be cut will be in between wall studs or roof studs.
3. Measure 56" and place a line at both ends with pencil.
4. Trace 6" diameter circle so that top of bottom circle touches bottom line.
5. Trace 6" diameter circle so that bottom of top circle touches top line.
6. There should be 56" between bottom of top hole and top of bottom hole.
7. Using electric drill and 1/2 " bit, drill hole through wall or roof to start jigsaw through.
8. Be sure to stay on circle while cutting hole in wall or roof.
9. Place 6" galvanized pipe through each hole so that crimped end sticks out 1" only.
10. Fasten pipe in place with 1" L brackets and self-tapping metal screws.
11. Tar heavily around holes to prevent water leaks.
12. Fasten snap disc switch to top fin through top hole in solar air heater using enclosed screws.
13. Attach 14 gauge black wire (enough to reach your duct fan) to both ends of snap disc switch.
14. Position solar heater over holes so that crimped ends of pipe penetrate holes in solar air heater.
15. Black wire from switch should run through ducting to your duct fan.
15. Fasten solar heater to wall or roof with enclosed 3" L brackets.
